How exactly does one start a blog? My ten-month-old son is napping right now, so I have time to write. I am currently a stay-at-home mommy, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I spent the last eight years as an elementary classroom teacher, mostly third grade. People ask me if I miss teaching, and the honest answer is yes I do! I miss the kids. I miss creative lessons. I miss science experiments. I miss fun read-alouds. I miss the challenge. I miss my co-workers. I won’t get into the things I don’t miss, and if you’re a teacher, I’m sure you have a laundry list as long as mine of the unpleasant parts of the job.
They say once a teacher, always a teacher, and I believe that is true. I still break out my teacher voice occasionally, completely subconsciously, I swear. And I’m ashamed to admit that I can still eat a three course meal in ten minutes or less. Or it’s free. I’m working on that, though, because if you’ve ever been sitting around a dinner table with a large group of people, and you realize you’re plate is clean while everyone else has taken like two bites, well, you know how embarrassing that is!
Teaching is my first professional love. Coming in at a close second is writing and creating. My dream job would be to write for educational publishers. (Anyone hiring?)
So I thought I would turn my love of teaching, love of writing, and ok who am I kidding, my love of hearing myself talk, into a blog. Hopefully you will find it helpful or interesting or at least read it occasionally.
Thanks for dropping by,
